Hair Care for Extensions is the Key to Success

Are you wondering what to do to keep your hair extensions looking their best? What care products do you use? Hair extensions look and feel just like your own hair, especially natural hair. This is why the treatment is so spectacular. However, even the best-quality hair extensions do not have the same root structure as natural hair. They are therefore deprived of a source of internal moisture. If you want to keep your hair looking beautiful even months after your visit to the barber, you need to take good care of it. You need to give your hair the right amount of moisture on a regular basis to keep it looking its best.

Washing Extensions

Extension hair should be treated with great care just like natural hair. Use a shampoo that does not contain alcohol or panthenol. Avoid oil-containing shampoos. A drop of shampoo is enough to wash even long hair. In a sliding motion, distribute it through your hair, from top to bottom. Shampoo should only be lathered at the roots. The resulting lather will also clean the extended strands. Rinse out the shampoo with cool or lukewarm water.

Be sure to rinse out the shampoo as gently as possible and do not rub or scrub your hair. Wrap your still damp hair in a towel. But remember

Be sure to avoid bonding points. Cosmetic ingredients may weaken them.

Regularly rub in oil, e.g. nigella oil or ‘regular’ olive oil to prevent split ends. Brush your hair several times a day. Be sure to use a special brush for hair extensions Separate individual strands of hair at the joints with your fingers once or twice a day. This keeps the hair from becoming knotted.

Leave your hair in a braid overnight. This will prevent tangling and knots and prolong the life of the hair strands. Keep your hair tied up before going to the gym or swimming pool.

Styling Extensions

Although you can treat hair extensions with natural hair extensions just like you treat your own hair with a blow-dryer, straighten and curl it, do not overdo it with heat. This can dry out the hair extensions considerably. Always apply a protective hair spray before using a hair dryer, flat or curling iron.
